PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) Pipes
Product Details:
Product Description
PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride) Pipes
Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC), an organic material in plastic class has wide range of applications. Pipes manufactured with this material, well known as PVC Pipes, have been widely accepted as replacement to GI, CI & MS pipes due to its lightweight, easy transportation, material characteristics and its price / performance ratio. It has less frictional losses, deposit of scaling and zero corrosion. Commonly referred to as vinyl, PVC is a common plastic used in a wide variety of products such as piping, flooring, wallpaper, window frames, siding, office equipment and children’s toys. Rigid PVC pipes manufactured range from 20 to 315 mm and have pressure ratings of 2.5,4,6 and 10 Kgf/cm2. They confirm to the specifications of IS: 4985- 2000 laid down by the Bureau of Indian Standards in all respects. With features such as smoother bore, modulus of elasticity, light weight, seamless, resilient and self extinguishing quality elements, Rigid PVC is an another option over metal pipes. With advantages such as easy installation, economy, maintenance free, smooth flow, durability and reliability , Rigid PVC pipes and fittings enjoys applications in agricultural and lift irrigation systems, water & drainage systems, potable water supplies, tube well casting, natural gas & petroleum lines, telecommunication ducting air condition & industrial ducting and in open & underground drainage for housing colonies.
Characteristics
- Confirm to IS:4985-2000 in all respects.
- Smoother bore in comparison to AC, CI, GI pipes and therefore better water flow characteristics.
- Light weight offers total economy in handling, transportation & installation.
- Seamless, strong and resilient.
- Odorless and hygienic for transportation of water as they do not subject to contamination.
- Self extinguishing quality elements needed for fire resistant coating.
- Maintainance free.
- Thermal Conductivity : 4 x 10.4 Cal/Hr cm2/oc/cm.
- Coefficient of linear expansion : 5.0 to 6.0 x 10.5mm/m/oc .
- A specific gravity : 1.40
- The combined flexural and compressive strength of uPVC is 600Kg/cm2 to 650Kg/cm2
- The impact strength of uPVC is @ 0 deg.c for uPVC is 3Kg/cm2
- Modulus of elasticity- approx 3.0 to 3.8 x 10 4/cm2
- Long lasting uPVC is free weakness caused by scale formation, rust, weather & chemical action, which makes uPVC more durable for rated conditions.
Advantages
Insulation
The PVC Pipes and fittings are very easy to install. A properly designed scheme can be installed quickly and leak proof even by a unskilled worker. It saves time compared to the cement and cast iron pipes installation.
Durability
PVC Pipes and fitting system designed and laid properly away from heat and direct sunlight have a minimum life time of 40 years. It is self extinguishing.
Economy
PVC Pipes comes in grey colour and in 6 meter length with one end socket for making the joining easy. There is no need of regular maintenance on P.V.C. pipe "ONCE THE INSTALLATION IS DONE, ITS’ DONE FOR EVER". Moreover the light weight and durability of the P.V.C. pipes system results in their minimum transportation costs and no storage problems before their installation. From the futuristic point of view, if the installed lines get choked, they can be easily cleared through openings / repaired at minimum costs even by non skilled person.
Smooth Flow
Mirror finish inside allows smooth flow of liquids.
Protection
The Rigid and the SWR pipe fittings are fitted directly with pipes to prevent leakage through joints, unaffected by majority of chemicals and aggressive soils. Above all, its high impact strength ensures durability and free from corrosion.
Application
Rigid PVC pipes are used in
- Irrigation
- Potable water supplies
- Rural and suburban water & drainage system
- Agricultural and lift irrigation system
- Industrial & Chemical conversion & drainage system
- Telecommunication ducting
- Bio-gas
- Natural gas & Petroleum Lines
- Tube well casing
- Open & underground drainage for housing colonies
- Domestic plumbing & drainage
- Air condition & Industrial ducting
- Sprinkler and drip irrigation system etc
Properties | Rigid PVC Pipe | Galvanized Pipe | A.C. | Cast Iron Pipe | Advantages of RPVC Pipe |
Weight | Light | Heavy | Heavy | Very Heavy | Very light weight. Hence, easy in installation, transporting, shifting & convenient in joining. |
Surface | Very Smooth | Rough | Little Rough | Rough | Its smooth surface gives 25% more flow. Pipes having small diameter can be used. Hence, they are economical. |
Length | 6 Meter | 5 to6 Meter | 3 to 4 Meter | 3 to 4 Meter | Available in full length of 6 mtrs. So less joints and couplers required reducing its overall cost. |
Flow | Initially 50% more flow in comparison to other pipes & retains the standard till end. | Initially flow gets reduced, because of rust. | Initially flow is 40% more. | Initially flow reduces by 40 to 50% after 5 to 10 years. | Full & constant flow from initial stage which is 50% more than any other pipe. |
Fitting arrangement | Very easy, quick & leak proof. | Threading is required. | Easy | Very laborious & time consuming. | Economical in joining with unskilled labor and less time. It is leak proof. Hence, no complaint of regular repairing. |
Life | Lasts a minimum life time of 40 years provided designed and laid properly. | Gets rusted quickly. Hence requires to be changed after 30 years. | Less chances of changing | Requires change after 20 years. | Investment once in life time. |
Cost of material | Very less Expensive. | Very Expensive. | Less Expensive | Very Costly | Very economical in comparison to other pipes. |
Note: PVC pipes means unplasticised polyvinylchloride pipe, also frequently referred to as rigid PVC pipe. The word rigid does note explain its structure but defines a property, which is self explanatory.
